Design Principles
Your website should be presentable on all computers, regardless of browser, platform, resolution, or speed of modem:
- Christie does her best to ensure that your website is cross-browser friendly and backward compatible. Everyone should be able to view your site "as is".
- Sites are designed for "accessibility". This means that TITLE and ALT tags are filled in and tabular data is presented using headings. Your site is also tested in "grey-scale" to assure adequate contrast for the colour blind.
- All graphics are "optimised". This means that file size is reduced without sacrificing quality to ensure that web pages load as quickly as possible.
- All meta tags, title tags, and alt tags are filled in to assist search engine placement.
Pricing Principles
Website owners should get value for money:
- I don't charge what I think the market will SUSTAIN. I charge what I think is FAIR.
- I am not a reseller who adds an additional percentage to hosting or domain fees. I charge you exactly what it costs me.
- I don't charge you a "minimum fee" for minor changes that only take me a few seconds. In fact, I usually do minor changes free of charge.
- I don't believe in offering "Maintenance" packages. The truth is, most website owners don't make many changes in the course of a year.
- If you want to do your own maintenance I give unlimited free assistance via phone and email.
Site Ownership
I believe website owners should have FULL ownership of their site:
- If you want your own domain, you get free assistance with registering and arranging hosting or I can do it for you for a small fee.
- I believe in full disclosure of passwords, keys, etc so you are free to move your website or engage another designer.
- You own the copyright for your website. I will, however, put a link at the bottom of each page as the designer of your site.
