Electric Vehicles New England is keen to get expertise in electric vehicles to the New England area and is trialing SKYPE as a means to that end. SKYPE is an internet telephony service that allows users to communicate via phone or video. The service is free between SKYPE members providing the perfect medium for EV enthusiasts to share their knowledge in country areas.

Nathan Bolton of “Convert Ur Car” was the guest speaker at EVNE's June meeting. However, Nathan was in Sydney and attended the Armidale meeting via SKYPE. His video feed was on a large LCD television and sound was via a netbook computer. Nathan's discussion was centered around battery chargers and methods of charging electric vehicles and members were able to ask questions throughout the session. EVNE hopes to schedule more remote guest speakers for future meetings.

Other attendees at the meeting were Lindsay Fulloon, convenor for the SLA Transport group and Kevin Hughes, Technical Director for TEVCCO (The Electric Vehicle Conversion Company).
